I recently traded NEC 8080 processor with strange part number - D8080A-T:

It doesn't seem that the printing was damaged in any way, that is the letter "T" is not a partially erased another letter or digit. Did anybody see anything like this on other NEC parts?

I thought the same, but I don't have a datasheet to confirm it. I'm sure somebody has NEC 8080 datasheet.... anybody?

Hello Genna,

I have seen this chip (NEC D8080A-T) at some semiconductors shops
at Akihabara, Japan. But, I didn't have met the information of "-T".
Unfortunately, no one knows at the shops. They have sold this as "NEC D8080A".

Best Regards,

Would you still be able to find one of these? I would like to get one.
Maybe others would too.

Yes, I can find and buy them, now.
But, the actual price is rather expensive,
JPY2,950.- ~ JPY 4,180.- (~= US$27 ~ US$38 ).
At this weekend, I would like to visit semiconductors
shops at Akihabara, ask them the lot price,
quantities they have.

Well, I think others want to buy, I would like to
put an article to Group Buys area.
When the group buy is hold, I want someone who
can distribute chips to others (US/Canada, EU).

This is bad news for you and others.

Today, (on Oct./31st JST) I visited all semiconductors shops I know,
at Akihabara. They told me, "someone made a corner in NEC D8080A-T
chips, recently (in 2~3 months). There is no chips in the stock box."
The time is too late... Sad

Thanks for looking. Maybe more will come available later.
