Ok, second try. What do you think is the market value for these chips?
In NOS condition!

From what I've seen,
C8008-1 US$100-150
P4040 US$20-40
If the C8008-1 is NOS then maybe more.
All depends on how hungry the buyers are at the time. |

I'd say:
P4040 --> 10-20 EUR
SAB8086-4C --> 10-15 EUR
SAB8085A-C --> 10-15 EUR
C8008-1 --> 20-30 EUR _________________ My microprocessor collection: The Gecko's CPU Library |

Are these your "buy" prices
I think the C8008-1 would go for double this, especially as it is NOS. The last ebay sale was about 90 EUR. But then again, market price is only the price that a willing buyer is prepared to pay from a willing seller. So who knows?? Who would have thought that a grey 4004 would sell for US$1600? Next time one comes up maybe it will sell for US$3000 or US$750... |

Ebay isn't a reference for me. If a C8008-1 was sold for 90 EUR (more than $130!), it was thanks to the ebay system. But prices also grow up, I'm not so surprised to see a C8008-1 at this price _________________ My microprocessor collection: The Gecko's CPU Library |

If anyone wants to be realistic, the list of highest prices paid for any particular chip should never be used to set future selling prices. Maximum is just that, what ONE person was willing to pay...
Obviously I do acknowledge that if many people think a price is fair, then it will become reasonably standard, even if only for a short time. It just seems that too often I see posts where highest ever prices are taken as a good starting point for a sale, and in the medium term that seems (to me, I may not be seeing the full picture...) to push prices higher for chips that are not always worth it (much the same as how gold scrappers push prices for some chips out of the reach of many collectors who would rather preserve the technology...). _________________ My graphics card database can be found at http://www.gpuzoo.com.

| It's all about supply and demand. I guess there will be more collectors surfacing as time goes on and only a finite supply of chips, so that will tend to push up prices for sure. If there were lots of C4004 and C4004 greys around, they would be on ebay given the prices now being paid. The US$1500 paid may yet prove to be a good investment... |

| It's all about condition too. The guys paying $1500 for a C4004 are literally counting the scuffs on the caps of those chips. They are also looking for boldly printed, well centered part numbers. Like coins, a single little scratch can make a big difference in what serious collectors are willing to pay for a given chip. |
