Keep your eyes open everytime!!!
My best deal ever was two (not working) Intel Prom Programmers witch two C4040 AND four C4001 in side for $90 (shipping included).
The auction was badly described.
Also chips like a c8008 go from less than $10 to more than $100 in nearly same condition.

Had to be a like new condition "Godbout" G8008 purchased on EBAY a few years back for 19.95. It was one of Stacy Mama's auctions. The auction said Intel C8008 but that's not what I got:).

I also picked up an Intel 8080B (without the 'C' prefix) about 3 years ago for $100 which was a pretty good deal given there's only a few known to exist without the C prefix in the type C package with size brazed pins.

Another good one... Spotted one of only a few known copies of Intel's 1st data catalog dated Sept. 1972 on EBAY about 30 seconds after it had been listed with a buy it now of $100.00

I got my '75 (two copies), '76, '77, and '78 Intel Data catalogs at a hamfest in 1980 for around a buck apiece.

Those 12 boards each with the two dozen C1101A's I think I paid 50 cents a pop for, at a hamfest in 1977.

Here's a little tip: The 1960s ICs that few people are collecting in earnest yet - e.g., Ebay item #s 5146227231 and 5726721303 - in about 5 years will be worth 20 times what you're paying for them now. That is, assuming you're shrewd enough to invest.

Keep in mind I've been doing this for going on 3 decades... When I first started, you could get C8080's (which aren't particularly rare) for a couple dollars from any number of mail order surplus catalogs. I still even have old Godbout Electronics catalogs mentioning the G8008.

These things are rare, but they happen. For example, I've paid $25 for my C8080A CS. Some of my ES processors I've got really cheap. If you look hard enough and long enough you can find some really rare stuff.
