I recently bought a new heatsink - RCX-Z100R - that's made by Rosewill, for a Socket A (PGA 462) motherboard. which it's supposed to be compatible with. I have an AMD Athlon XP 2200+ processor. The bracket, though, is not long enough to attach it to the socket. I hook it over one end, but it's not quite long enough to fit over the other. Has anyone else had a problem fitting a heatsink/cooler designed for a Socket A motherboard onto the motherboard? I had no such problems with the first heatsink.
[It's a PC Chips M848A (V5.0B) motherboard.]
Thanks. |

Are you positive it's not long enough?
The heatsink is suppose to be held on under tension to assure proper contact with the CPU.
I know with my Socket A systems, I have to put a screwdriver in the slot on the heatsink mounting clip and (carefully) slide it under the tab provided on the MOBO.
Sometimes it take a bit of force and effort to make sure it's secured properly. |
