I want to upgrade my current system (865GV mobo, Pentium 4 3.0Ghz, 1Gb DDR 400) but undecided to upgrade my CPU (my mobo can accept 65nm dual cores) coz of cost reasons. RAM upgrade is perhaps the best route for me, I am planning to install 2 sticks of RAM from 1gigs to 2gigs. If the cost between the two is minimal, then what's the best upgrade path, RAM or CPU? If I select the RAM upgrade, will my current CPU performs at par with Pentium Dual Core at 2.0Ghz? Please help... Confused

It depends on whether your computer is CPU bound or memory bound. Look at how much free physical memory you have when you run most frequently used programs. If all or almost all physical memory is used then upgrade RAM. If you still have plenty of memory left then upgrade the CPU.
