hmm, what kind of dirt is this on the chip? is it hardened glue or the rest of a tape?

All you need to do is rub the glue off with some hydrocarbon solvent...acetone, alcohol, Naptha paint thinner, etc.
I would avoid rubbing the print, just to be safe. Some print can come off easily... Mad

print on those is VERY VERY VERY easy to come off, it will come off with just finger rubbing, be careful
