I troll thru online collections for my research databases & come across some chips in collections that I know are fakes/remarks or suspect are fakes and remarks.

Some collectors may know, some maybe unaware Crying or Very sad

So active collectors with online collections. do you want to know.. or do you want to ignore it Laughing

Let me know

I would expect active collectors would prefer a PM of suspect chips?

like for example the Pentium MMX Overdrive i came across today in someones collection Wink

yes, as if someone is using it for reference in any way, it could seriously distort the data.

Thanks for the info. I fixed the enteries.
I`m glad to see you found no fakes with just the fronts of the chips to look at as I don`t have pics of the back.

Yeah I dont mind, post anything you find of mine that looks suspect. I know of one or two pieces I just havent got around to fixing yet.

I hate fakes, totally pointless. The few I have I'll keep for reference to help other collectors. I dont want to reopen the whole fake/or not fake debate. I just mean I dont want cpu that are not original markings, otherwise I might as well go buy a case of that 386 DX4 dog waste.

I'd be interested to learn how you can tell fakes from the real ones.
For instance, how can you tell the ODPR66 is a fake?
I can take a guess at best but I'd realy like to learn from a 'pro' Smile

I'd be interested to know if anything on my site is a fake so I don't sell it to someone else when I get round to listing my chips for sale.

the font is wrong & similar to other 486 OD fakes

easier if you have die pic... to match up top & bottom codes

here is some other SZ935s with the remark to compare the font
dont forget.. the bottom 4 lines should be engraved/lasered... not printed

I just keep looking and it's very hard for me to spot the difference. I can see the font looks a little different, especially the ' in '89 and '92.

So the top left one is a genuine part? The font looks the same to me but it looks as if it's painted on while the other 4 look more etched into the material.

top left is genuine.. it might look printed, but you tell its etched as the light shines on one edge of the etching. The painted one has the same colouring for the whole character (no brighter to darker shade)
