Here is another companion to the Pentium Timeline Project thread (Link) - The Pentium Pro Timeline. Please post photos of any newer/older Pentium Pros.

Link to the timeline

This timeline has the same problem as the Overdirve timeline in that you will need to scroll back to 1995-1998 to see the data.

All the above chips added.

There's some interesting things to note after seeing the timeline. It seems that it took Intel a while to get the Pentium Pro going until mid 1996, when all speeds from 166 to 200 were released. Then leading up to January 1997, there is a lot of Qspecs, then all speeds except 150 were released in new sspecs - all of which start with SL, rather than SY. (Was there a major bugfix or something then?) Most of them were only made for a few months with only several 200Mhz sspecs lingering on till 1998. And something Neon_WA mentioned to me a while ago is that it appears that Intel never even tried to get the Pentium Pro over 200Mhz. I would assume that this was because the P2 was out and Intel wanted everyone to buy them.

ppro was very successful from the start.

Initially it was hoped to release at 100MHz
the first prototypes did 133 without problem, and with some tweaks 150 and 166 were easy

the design is easily clockable to 233MHz (and some people have overclocked theirs)

The PII fixed some 16bit performance issues, and added new instructions, it is however, based on the P Pro core (as is the PIII, P-M, and most of Intels current stuff)
