|
I am going to run a competition in the forum for both new & old members.
It is a bit far off the 10 year anniversary of CPU-World,
so even thou post count isn't really a good gauge of participation, I have decided to run the competition around when CPUShack hits his 10K in posts
Things I need to sort out
10K post time... probably default forum time (which is -5Hrs GMT)
Winner closest + & - of that time or closest time posted time after?
are there minor Winners? for getting right day
Choice of prizes so winner/s have a choice
Cut off time of competition... 9900 posts ?
Please make comments
I want to have these all sorted in the next 2 weeks so I can start the competition at the beginning of April _________________ There are 10 types of people in this world:

Just give Noel your usename & password so the competition can still continue just in case.
As for prizes.. I'm just gunna use this to post to pen some ideas.
maybe where winner can pick an increasing numbers of chips from different value chips
1 from Group 1
P2 ES, Timna, ....
2 from Group 2
Opteron ES, 166MHz Pentium Pro, VLSI Arm1, SZ977 ....
4 from Group 3 (or 2 & 1 from Group 2)
uncommon P1s like SU114, SY017, big logo K6, old part number P3s.....
the chips listed are only guide, but will set them once i think more about it _________________ There are 10 types of people in this world:

Maybe I missed somthing but what is the compitition? Do you want us to call the date and time that CPUShack hits 10k posts? _________________ "The only reason for time is so that everything doesn't happen at once." A.E. |

I see two potential bugs with this competition.
A. Doesn't this all depend on when CPUShack decides to post? Aside from the problem of getting hit by a meteorite, what if he decides to be extra talkative or extra quiet?
B. Are CPUShack or his brother eligible for prizes? Or at least willing to accept a bribe?
P.S. - I think whoever can guess when Neon posts his 594th post should get the prize. My guess is....
Now. |

Yep.. thats going to be the basis of the competition.
I'm just using this thread to sort out the details b4 it starts _________________ There are 10 types of people in this world:

Neon_WA,
If that will be the basis for the contest, then entrants will need to PM you their time guesses, so that CPUShack does not know in advance who has guessed which time. If instead you want CPUShack to decide who the winners will be, then the entrants could post their time guesses in the forum, and then CPUShack can make his post at the right time - but that is not really a "contest".
Another idea might be to title this something like, "CPUShack 10K Post Contest", and have the contest the day that CPUShack reaches 10K posts. The contest could then be a random drawing, or some test of skill or knowledge or other ability. |

I like Neon's idea. Every member then has an equal chance to win. Random draw 5 finalists and possibly make them answer a question about some basic chip or CPU history that most members would know the answer to. _________________ My collection list (growing) http://johnorun.x86-guide.com/en/collection.html |

Any mathematical formula to calculate it ? Yes there is but still hard to shoot exactly when it will be reached _________________ Visit ABC CPU - Virtual CPU Museum. |
