some nice items there
think calling the zilog a customer sample is a bit erroneous
seeing there is 99.9% chance that the CS marking on them doesn't have that meaning
FYI wrong pic on the XC6800B
will be interesting to see if any sell at the your start prices (apart from the 4004s) _________________ There are 10 types of people in this world:

Never noticed so many Zilog Z80-A's were marked 'CS'. My guess is Zilog ran the first batch with 'CS' then never changed the printing after they went into full production and all of them ended up marked 'CS'?
The value of early ROM, PROM, and EPROM is hard to measure. Some of the early ROM, PROM, and EPROM and much rarer than some of the early CPUs. But then fewer collectors collect these chips. If they don't bring my minimum bids I will just put them back on the shelf for a few years. I'm in no hurry to sell:) |

C = Ceramic
S = 0 to 70C Temp spec
Here is the pertinent page from an '83 Zilog data book.
Mr. Phillips, your EPROMS are beautiful. Do you do something to polish the gold or have they just never tarnished? |

Didn't polish them but I'm picky. I generally only bought chips that were in really good condition to begin with. The way the pics were taken helps too. Some of the best chip pics I ever saw were ones Steve Emery used to take of chips he listed on EBAY 10-12 years ago. He used the same color blue poster board as a background and took his pics at the same angle as the pics I put on EBAY. The blue background really makes the gold "pop" for some reason.
I used a halogen light off to the left and a flash with the macro setting with a Panasonic digital camera (nothing special about the camera). Pics were shot at a high resolution from a distance of about 1 foot. I then used adobe photoshop to crop the chip out and resized the image down to a lower resolution. |

| Well, let's try this again... Had a new EBAY ID with zero feedback came in and bid on the 4004's. Canceled auctions and relisted with no zero feedback bidders comment. If it happens again I'll have to ban Asian bidders to block China. Would hate to do that because there are some legit collectors in China. |

I think you can change your eBay settings so that buyers with a feedback rating of less than 5 cannot bid. _________________ The Older they are the Better they are. |

After canceling the last auctions I emailed the bidder with zero feedback with the new ebay id and said I couldn't take bids from bidders with zero feedback. He emailed me back and said "EBay may be a problem, I just offer always remind me have high prices than me, let me continue to offer!I'm so sorry!" Not sure if he doesn't understand English or it just a scammer. Canceled auction again. Figured out how to block the bidder id so hope I won't have the problem again.

I don't trust a new EBAY ID with zero feedback that suddenly decides he wants to get into chip collecting and goes after $1000.00+ chip as the first chip he buys. Paypal will always error on the side of the buyer. Guy could claim I sent the wrong item, return me a rock, and paypal would refund his money. And with the new improved EBAY I couldn't even leave bad feedback for him. |

Same thing again... even after putting 'NO BIDDERS WITH ZERO FEEDBACK' in auction another 1 day old EBAY account with zero feedback takes the high bid. EBAY pretty much has made it impossible to stop people from ruining your auctions by not allowing you to specify no bids from bidders with zero feedback. Not fair to legitimate bidders to have to deal with this either.
Going to cancel and relist with a crazy high buy it now or best offer and take the best offer from a legitimate bidder. |
