today i went to the post office to pick up my parcel from todayisme2000... Coming from China, the parcel went to Custom's post office... A guy there asked me for "Online order for the goods" .. i told him that was not an online order, the sender is not a company, and the CPUs are not new and not commercial stuff... i told him that was just an agreement between 2 people... and he started yellin' (like a crazy man) accusing me that i lie, that maybe is something very expensive and i dont want to pay taxes, that he cannot give me the CPUs, bla bla.. he told me that he should send the parcel to the capital of the country (Bucharest) to expertise them to see the "REAL VALUE" ... (the whole scene lasted more that 5 minutes) .. i said: go ahead... send them .. i am curious too to find out the "real value" of my 4 small CPUs, but im not paying for it... and i made 2 steps to the door to leave.. in that moment , i thought he will explode...
stupid people.... there are others that import containers full of electronics and cigarette and other goods and dont pay taxes, and he was i afraid i am the enemy of the state with a small envelope with 4 used CPUs .. finally he gave me the CPUs because i started to yell too and were other people around, but he said "i will find a way to make you pay next time" ... Cant wait to receive another parcel to see his way to evaluate old CPUs... maybe i'll ask someone to send some low value kinda unique ICs just to ask him to send for an expertise.. kinda ICs that you cannot find on Google )) _________________ https://www.facebook.com/CPUCollectionRO |

If you had a dollar for all the stupid people in the world, you would have about $7.2b dollars (yes the population is just over that) _________________ My former Intel collection:

there are many good destiantions here.. landscape is amazing in many places ... a lot of history .. but doesnt worth visiting because of the bad roads, lack of highways and the mentality of many people really sucks...

i'll call to ask who is paying for the expertise... If its free, i'll be happy to send them some chips.. because first they have to identify them.. after that they need to test them to see if working or not.. the value depend on this... and if working they need to establish the value.... If there are some chips with custom markings im pretty sure that they'll failed , so will be my pleasure _________________ https://www.facebook.com/CPUCollectionRO |

I would be very careful with that! The custom officials don't need to know what a chip is, they only need to know how much such a chip costs.
Just try to google for any exotic worthless chip - most probably you won't find a data sheet or description of it, but I'm completely sure that you'll find dozens of chip brokers demanding CRAZY prices for this particular chip type. Most probably the brokers won't have this chip on stock - they just list all possible chip types in order to achieve a better placement in google's search results. But the custom officials don't need to purchase the chips - they only need the prices for the cost estimation.
Now you see the problem! |

You underestimate the people at the customs office - it is up to you to prove that you have a valid reason to buy chips, which are not working.
And obvious it didn't work the first time when you had the discussion at the customs office. |

Theoretically speaking you can avoid customs at all
if you receive envelope (with e.g. small chips) as usual mail or I am wrong? |

at least here there is not a rule.. i once received directly @ home a big envelope with a heavy book from USA and now i had to go to custom's post office for a tiny envelope with 4 CPUs inside...
sending, yes.. avoid customs... when i send i just go to regular post and send them.. without anyone check whats inside ..
cant remember if i told you... once i sent a prety big parcel to AVICC.. and there was a lady asking me how can i prove that in eproms are not stored secret informations.. and hold me there for 3-4 hours while she was calling here superiors asking what to do with my parcel .. _________________ https://www.facebook.com/CPUCollectionRO |
