it could be since it's VERY early ('92), but no speed markings could mean anything unless it's plugged into a system. Definitely not something I've seen before.

Could be.. an earlier proto-type; maybe the freq is not locked??

I would think it's a 50.. but without official doc... well I would still guess it's a 50Mhz.

Pentium 50 has Q0399 Q-spec.

Q0335 is unknown. I think speed is not locked too

Flip it over. I do not think it is the pentium 50 everybody looks for, rather it is the cache controler off of the pentium 60 engineering sample I just lost the auction regarding on ebay (sold by tlccomp) . (I have never been sadder in all my collecting days, seems nikko just out bid me again, damn you nikko, I loose more fdiv pentiums to you then everyone else combined and now you have my dream chip)
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8811742993&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1

Below is a picture of non-es versions of a pentium 60 cache controler. Note the similarities in the text. I am pretty confident that if a bottom view of this chip is provided it will prove to be the cache controler.

Oh C'mon, the zizmo would have won the auction if I didn't bid on it. Crying or Very sad

and last time was the same, you were the 3rd high bidder.

BTW, I think you could be right on this one.

Anyway, we will know the answer when he show the back of the chip.

Hmmmm, It states on the Front of the Chip the word "Pentium" so I would doubt it is a Cache Controller. Smile

Cheers all
