I want to find out how long these "Qualification Samples" or early production CPUs were produced. The ones labeled as AMD 7th GENERATION PROCESSOR.
I know they exist with 500, 550 and 600MHz.
The earliest CPU I know was made week 25/1999.
here: http://www.cpu-world.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3649&highlight=athlon+qualification
the oldest one is from week 30/1999.
All of them were assembled in the USA.
So please check your CPUs.

What is the earliest date code on Athlon labeled CPUs?

(Im not home for a couple of weeks so i have to steal the eBay image from the auction i bought this chip from... )

Not sure if this is a correct qualification sample but it has the sticker you mention. It is marked with AMD-K7600MTR51B C 21992533701 according to the auction.

Edit: Im not good at AMD datecodes. Would this be week 21 1999?

the oldest one is from week 33/1999.

So we have nine weeks of production. How many wafer starts/week and how many dies per wafer can we assume?

Well, I also have a 600 QS, but also from week 25/1999 (219925328951). The earliest Non-QS K7-600 is from week 33/1999 (219933029161).

Regards, Xaar.
