With the promise yesterday here you are...

Hand picked from a full box of >70 pcs of Pentium II / Celerons

code on the back:
A64254JCA0-005 ES
DC80522PX233512 Q071 (M)(C)'96

on the middle chip on the back:
S82459AB
I621901Q
Q986 ES
INTEL M C '95

on the front core: (strange, never see marks on core Confused )
Intel
QC80522PX
B-0
16339050ZA-0807
Q046-C

It seems that from the unusual mounting of the heatsink, this CPU starts its life with NO CASE AT ALL

At the time of my rescue this one was already in critical condition Neutral
A LOT of SMD capacitors were knocked off due to prolonged stacking with other CPUs
The good thing is, I am able to boot with it at its rated frequency and enter Windows 98SE Surprised
btw, it cost me HKD$10 (approx. USD $1.2) only Wink

New VIA in my collection :

800A Samuel 2 - nothing special but it have traces for power capacitors same as high models like 1 GHz and up (Ezra, Nehemiah)

68sniper, is this octagon package rare?
I have many rectangle chips but only one octagon and wonder if it is just a coincidence or not...

If any interest i can test them in my old Fujitsu 266 Mhz with some cpuid app.

Excellent deal! Especially on early Pentium II samples.

I'd be interested to know their CPUID.

Both 266:MHz are 0633.

I dont know much about this CPU-id stuff, does 0633 tell anything about them?

It is another way of identifying the cpu.

See here for more info.

That i got! Just if 0633 was telling something about my specific chips. How 0633 does relate to other chips in the family and so on.

I dont think Intel has much published extended information on all the characters... so right now its only real use is to confirm the cpu is what it should be and not a fake/remarked one. ?

Intel's definition:

CPUID String A four character string that can be used to identify the features of the processor. The first character is typically a 0 and the second and third characters represent the family and model number. The fourth character represents the processor stepping. For example, if you find one processor with a CPUID String of 0672 and a second processor with a CPUID String of 0673, both processors have the same family and model number of 67, but with different steppings. This sometimes has an "h" at the end of it to denote hexadecimal notation.

CPUID:

ABCDh, h stands for hexadecimal

A: Position
0 for single CPU / 1st dual CPU
1 for overdrive CPU
2 for 2nd dual CPU

B: Family
same family architachure should have the same value
(e.g Klamath, Deschutes, Katmai, Coppermine and Tualatin all got 6)

C: Model
denotes the core of the CPU
Klamath = 3
Deschutes = 5
Katmai = 7
Coppermine = 8
Coppermine D0 = 10(A)
Yualatin = 11(B)

D: stepping
the variations of the manufacture of the same model CPU
Klamath: B0 = 2, C0 = 3, C1 = 4
Tualatin: A0 = 0, A1 = 1, B1 = 4

more can see on this page (non comprehensive)
