IMHO we are talking about CPU\FPU\MCUs ... may be + UVEPROM and peripheral

Chiefish, 52 weeks x 7 days = 364 days, so there is always at least one extra day for a 53rd week. There can be up to 7 extra days, depending on which day of the week the year begins.

So week 53 is not especially rare, but it is statistically less common than the other weeks - don't know if the fabs are running at capacity 365 days a year, which would affect the numbers.

I just posted a thread about this, in which I tried to argue that there could be a 54th week in a leap year, but that is wrong.

no time to count;-)

but as there's a RAM board with 128 P1103 chips along with many others it can't be less than 1500...

At least it is a question of what kind of chips, boards or computers someone collects.

What about a poll: Which or how many chips would you rescue out of your burning house?

Interesting poll Smile

Today, more than 1300, only CPU and FPU. I also have some MCU and odd chips, but just for fun. No support chips.

I have to confess that collecting sSpec helps a bit to reach the 1000 threshold...

1000+
I collect only CPU (no DSP, FPU, Bit Slice, ....),
DIP - all kind or variations
PGA - only one speed in all its varition (es. Pentium - only 100mhz, gold, mobile, ceramic, .... - Pentium MMX - only 200mhz, plastic, mobile, ceramic, .....)

Stored in plastic box for model

I may need one of these, also, with all the neat stuff I collect... Wink

I bet I have well over 1500 chips, if I include chips on a few dozen boards.
I have been collecting everything-> CPUs plus RAMs and support chips, especially if they are scarce, unusual or pretty.
If no one saves these, then what will exist for future research or museums?
My most urgent goal is to find a way to display them nicely and safely. Many sit in wood boxes waiting to be shown off.
(((Someone with talent could make good $$ making and selling us simple chip display systems or Do-it-Yourself kits...hint, hint.)))Wink

I just got 82 OLD (1970's) chips in an Ebay "scrap" lot. Some I never heard of!
(I'm doing expert leg-straightening on them now, and they look like new.)

The collecting possibilities are endless, I'm learning .....and expensive, if yur not selective!!

I like your simple displays, ISA-D!
Is the White backing a form of plastic foam?
Can they hang on a wall? Smile

Now I feel OLD. The mid-'70s is when I started collecting chips.

No, if I limit it to CPUs and support chips it's probably around 2000. I'm including every chip I have from op amps to discrete logic. Date codes range from 1963 onward.

Wow, that is an awesome collection. Must be one of the largest (if not the largest) in the world. Very impressive & I am most jealous Very Happy
