Thermal compounds and waxes stand no chance against ArctiClean from the Arctic Silver folks. It's citrus based, smells like oranges, but is not super cheap. Comes in 2 parts. I bought the big containers of it years ago and they've lasted me through many a CPU cleaning. Only need a few drops after all.

It also cleans up stickers but doesn't melt the little foam Athlon pads. It removes tarnish too. Cleans up anything that ends up on a CPU, in my experience. Wink

I also have some nasty stuff called "Ooops" that contains several solvents, including Toluene. It's nasty stuff and I really try to not use it ever. Arcticlean is so much nicer and safer. I do use 91% Isopropyl Alcohol for tasks that it will work for though because it's so cheap.

Any idea how can I remove this type of glue without hammer or C4? Smile
It's just like cement: hard to scratch and resist the alcohol. Cool

That is some sort of resin... you might need to use acid, or some special resin solvent.

Great, thanks for that donutty... Now I can start cleaning away!

I hadn't heard of d-Limonene so I had a quick google and noticed a post by someone that mentioned a couple of products that would be an alternative to ArctiClean (http://forums.ncix.com/forums/index.php?mode=showthread&msg_id=1995566&threadid=1995566&forum=100&product_id=18558&msgcount=9&overclockid=0)

So I can affirm that cleaning cpus is a risky job involving use of solvents, linking the activity to premature departure and painful short life span... good to know, I need to get an insurance Smile

Who said that collecting cpus wasn't a hard man's job?? (spit of chewed tobacco - Jesse Ventura style)

d-Limonene is natural and safe.
