Not chasing them.... _________________ Ordem e Progresso |

So, that means I'm only collecting stuff that there arent 9999 variations of. Call me a quitter... |
Hehe, same here! For most processors it is absolute nonsense
to collect the different clockspeed or revision variants.
But I decided to collect different clockspeed versions if it makes
sense, for example on PC-CPUs from 286 up to 586.
Especially 486ers have a lot of different markings,
logos and symbols so it is a real pleasure to collect them!
Exactly the opposite of having an Intel P8085A, A2, AH, AH-1,
AH-2, A2H, H20-HEAD.... oh! And don`t forget the mils and
temps and samples!!!
Suggested solution: COLLECTING BY PACKAGE
never mind what the suffix is!
So just have an Intel C8085x (yeah!), D8085x and P8085x
for example and you`re done absolutely painless! |
That's pretty much me too. _________________ My collection list (growing) http://johnorun.x86-guide.com/en/collection.html |

I only started collecting 9 months ago and have built my CPU collection to over 1100 different parts. If you include variations then the number ballons out to about 1800 - 2100 (< still cataloguing them). Then there is eProms, MCUs, system boards & complete systems on top of that.
But where I am lucky... is that 75% I have found locally. Most are 486 & above.. but I still find complete systems as early as 8086s & even the odd system pre x86 system.
My intention is to keep my collection to about 80% with what i find & only buying peices that i consider special or to fill a gap. _________________ There are 10 types of people in this world:

OK, looks like I am completely bonkers but....I'll still be chasing that elusive sspec when I'm in my 80s...
and anyone who doesn't collect sspecs and has some interesting ones, please let me know. Always looking/buying and will pay good $$ |
