ok, I have an identical Motorola unit out of a G3 with a date of 1998 Week 09
You will find that there is a date on the processor under the contact pad surrounding the core. But you can take the date as 1998 Week 01 from the sticker as the sticker on mine has the same date as on the chip _________________ There are 10 types of people in this world:

i finally found a IBM similar to yours, and i will have to say now that the sticker may not represent the true production date, if you go by this pic

So the only way to know, is to remove the contact pad or lift one side at least to read the production code _________________ There are 10 types of people in this world:

Oh, that will be a little bit difficult, because the pad is really hard like a stone. But thanks again for that info

zombie thread
I have 3 PowerPC 403GCX, all on boards dated from early 2000 (by PCB date and all other components on the board
the PowerPCs have the following dates
1D03076PQ
1D15034PQ
1D21005PQ
If D = 2003 then the processors on these boards were made 3 years after the boards, doesn't seem likely, unless IBM used D in 2000 _________________ New for 2025! The CPU Shack has a co-processor!

I will have to log more IBM chips to see if they used the old & new letters at the same time for a few years.
I had presumed A followed on from U from the old letters.. but I did have some question marks on the new letter system
Will have to find chips on boards.. so I have a some other point of reference _________________ There are 10 types of people in this world:

Found another one, same processor, on an older revision board.
Board date is mid 1999
processor is marked:
1C28005PQ
SO I think
C = 99
D = 00 _________________ New for 2025! The CPU Shack has a co-processor!

have an Intel RAID card, dated 0328 (chips from late 2002 to early 2003)
IBM PCI X Bridge on it
part number 29P2994 93BM
Date code: G17003HP
Seems in this case G = 2003 _________________ New for 2025! The CPU Shack has a co-processor!
