That is ultimately what I do with a lot of stuff at my house, not just electronics. It simply isn't worth the effort to start a classifieds ad, an ebay ad, meet people in person (for the larger items), and take a trip to the post office. Think of how much you make per hour or per day at work and take a second thought. I have a soft-spot for vintage computer hardware, so the time and effort seems more meaningful. |

Indeed.
Who's to say what trash is and what vintage is?
There is a big grey area between trash and vintage. |

Hi Anubis801.
This is so true, a fine line between trash and treasure.
These will probably be a valuable item in 20 years because everyone will have thrown them out and scrapped them.
I suppose there is a balance between time, money and storage space.
I think it would help a lot to post a picture on the forum though. This post has 320 views, I bet there are not 300 PM's.
People will not be bothered to PM for pictures of ram sticks but if they see them in your post they don't have to PM you at all.
Once someone sees the items they might want to buy them or remember seeing the same ram in an old machine and want to buy it.
Perhaps you could sell them bundled with another item instead? that might be another option.
Do you have a local "hobby scrapper" who may appreciate them? Unless they have tinned fingers. He/she might swap them for a CPU?
Good luck whatever you do with them. I have a few ram sticks, I just keep them because of what the cost to start with and cannot stand the thought of throwing them out.
Unfortunately I am quite sure I do not need any, but without a picture I don't really know what you have.
Cheers. |
