It would be good to see a footnote in the guide stating that the estimates of value relate to the time the guide was produced. |
yah I was thinking of making an addendum to it too, some new chips come out since then _________________ New for 2025! The CPU Shack has a co-processor!

I'm thinking of creating a github repository with alle the data converted to markdown so we can update it and export it to PDF etc. very easy.
The only thing I need to do is extract all the data from the PDF and convert it. |

So you want to convert from PDF to a format that lets you convert to PDF? I think I'm missing something _________________ My graphics card database can be found at http://www.gpuzoo.com.

That's because it's not easy to edit a PDF, if we have the raw data we can update the prices and add missing data, and export it to PDF or HTML etc.
And if we have the data on github for example, we have a full history of changes and people can create issues and update the data. |

That makes sense. I hadn't looked at it that way _________________ My graphics card database can be found at http://www.gpuzoo.com.

The book was written in MS Word and converted to PDF.
My concern with uploading the word doc for public download is some people will just take it, change 4th edition to 5th edition and be selling it on Ebay, making unattributed changes to it, etc. Maybe that just comes with putting something like this in the public domain, but I'm hesitant to upload the word doc. That said, if it's someone doing something like you are talking about doing, then I might be willing to send you a private link to download the editable version. |

It can be converted to.doc format easily with Adobe Acrobat Professional. I just tried it on my laptop. What I would like to see happen, with permission of course, is that the data is somehow imported into The CPU World CPU database - that way any updates can be controlled by Gennady or John. Someone needs to volunteer to update the prices though and add a few entries. _________________ best rgds.

That's also a great option, but we still need to extract the data so it's possible to add it to the CPU World database.
If pphillips12 agrees with that, I'm willing to do the conversion, for example to a SQL script, voluntarily. And in that case the original Word document would be the best way to extract the data. |

Awesome, thank you! I was looking to get one copy of this book, but now if it is Public Domain, this is even better.
I agree with Vlasta, it would be neat if information like estimated market values and rarity were added as new entries in the CPU-World database. But this might need some hard work as there are often many variants for a single type of CPU (for example there are so many different possible printings for a D8086, or even a single Sspec like S40344 (white text, engraved no sigma, double sigma,...)).
And alternatively to a GitHub repository, someone could create a wiki where people can very easily add, update and review entries. _________________ Stelo.xyz Museum (CPU Collection and more) |

Anybody that wants a word copy just PM me. I DO think however a central source repository is a better idea or we end up with dozens of different versions out there all with different updated info.
Putting it on Wikipedia seems a good idea as all can edit and all can moderate too. I don't have the time to do that but I am sure some enterprising folks do... _________________ best rgds.
