Yes, you are in some way right. But the 386DX-40 processors were launched in 1991. By then, the 486DX-25 (launched in 1989) were replaced by 486DX-33 or 486SX. When launched in 1989, the 486DX-25 were very rare and expensive so they didn't had a sizeable market and in May 1990 Intel launched the 486DX-33 so this was the first nail in the coffin of the 486DX-25 which were quickly replaced by faster versions of 486DX or cheaper 486SX or alternatives from Cyrix, AMD, TI, ST etc. |
