Can it run Windows 7 with Aero? Afaik no Socket 8 motherboard have Acpi so using such Slotket would be the only way to run Windows 7 on a Pentium Pro... |
I actually thought on that and considered doing something like that if i ever got such slotkets and custom bios (i don't have an slot 1 via apollo pro 133a, but i got slot 1 apollo pro 133 and i440bx with acpi) |

Afaik SH6 can raise vcore only up to 1.9V which is far from PPro needs, thus you need to do a mod (feed it directly from 3.3 rail perhaps?). |

I can only say that if the platform felt good with the top 7-series AGP card, then with 5-th or 6-th gen. everything will be fine too

Of course, it's interesting, but you read the article in less than 5 minutes, and this time is worth more than one month of work, and at the very beginning of experiments with Socket8, I generally spent more than half a year to achieve a positive result.
As for the possibility of working a pair of Pentium pro on a dual-slot-1 motherboard, then there are much more problems than it seems at first glance. First, I want to achieve normal operation on the Dual Intel 440BX chipset.
Regarding Rambus i820 and Slot or Abit SH6, I live in a very controversial country, now hell is going on there, getting something from the list is often a difficult task for me. But despite all this, I am trying to implement some of my ideas.

I have not yet plunged deeply into the SH6 details and the problems that may arise, but thanks for the comment, then there will be problems with power supply, another problem often lies in the fact that more modern motherboards do not have the ability to set the FSB frequency to 66 MHz, but start from a hundred, This is complemented by the fact that the multiplier selection option has moved from the jumpers to the BIOS and it may turn out that the board will set the default settings with which it cannot work, this is also one of the problems. But first I need to first find such boards, and then try.
P.s. Im also want to find Virtual channel ram Memory (VCM) and to see what will be with performance with it. But so far I also cannot find it anywhere. |
