hmm.... I have not seen polished/unpolished bottom caps on the same type of 486 chip before.

The "arrow" was a common mark used by "gray market chip brokers" way back when. I've bought a lot of chips in the late 80's and early 90's from brokers and most of them had some kind of ID mark.
