btw, i am not sure if anyone knows how many of these kits were produced/sold in comparison to eg. kits containing C8080A's marked CS - those went for roundabout $200 last year - I got one. Therefor this kit is worth much less in my eyes. |

Don't forget, chip collectors aren't the only ones who buy these kits... Vintage computer collectors don't give two figs whether it's a customer sample or not. If he really wanted to rake in the bidders, he should've put "IMSAI" or "Altair 8800" or "Intellec" in the auction title.
As for what Borris said, whether or not a promise was made, expecting someone to sell something for below what it's reasonably worth - or to not even ask for opinions as to what it's worth - isn't terribly realistic.
