| Anyway, chips that can be prooved to be made for production and that are what they ought to be (P166 outside and inside) are not really fakes. They are just "Plagiate", illegal copies. A grey zone for collections?!? |

| Yes, it's a grey zone. But buying them will lead to more such chips and real fakes...that's why we shouldn't buy them. |

Yep, that's the reason. We have faked Jeans, Parfume, sportswear and so on... Most of this stuff come from China, Taiwan and so on. So be aware! _________________ Frank. |

thats not really fair to china
knockoffs dont come from china because chinese are fraudsters, they come from china because theyre cheap to produce there, which means even more profit if you sell them at the price of the name brand stuff
on the one hand i agree we shouldnt buy knockoffs, since it will just legitimize it more..
on the other hand, older knockoffs, like those pentiums, should be fair game. . i dont know if these are new fakes, or just old ones that are starting to surface, but afaik no ones really making pentium 1s anymore?
i agree though its a grey area.. normal remarked stuff where the old speed is polished off and a higher speed if stamped on is obviously bad under any circumstances, but something like this where its repackaged is a little different..
do you guys consider ECS's duron 1ghz 'amd pro 1600+' to be fake? |

It's going off topic.
frassral seems always like to extend the topic to something else, if that's your interest you've come to the wrong place for it. This is a CPU forum. I really doubt if you qualify to be a moderator.
Yes, those chip are remarked, but a little different from usual remarking.
Everybody knows now. Take it or leave it, it's just that simple, ok? |
