Can this be made to support heavy load on 5v by taking from the ATX 12v ?

Think athlon 1ghz and crappy 5v on modern PSU Smile

Modern 80+ Titanium PSUs have very good +5V meaning quality and efficiency. It's on a DC-to-DC converter off +12V. However it isn't supposed to deliver much current. Maybe 20A to 30A even for 1000W+ PSUs. That's why no chance for them to handle, say, my AlphaPC 264DP Smile

BTW I've got recently a bunch of 486 motherboards from a not so dry storage. Some tantalum capacitors did the fireworks. Although I used a 400W Inwin PSU with a rather sensitive overcurrent protection, so no burnt traces.

Any idea of a timescale as to when I'll be able to buy one and what the cost will be?

Maybe haha, things like these are only economical if made in batches of hundreds, the first batch is mostly sold out to the kickstarter campaign. Unsure if enough interest to make it economical for Xsecret to make another run, though I am interested in making it happen

I did wonder. I had expressed interest at the time of the crowdfunder, but had no funds to contribute Sad

I still have a few left. Will check that later this week. Post here if you're interested. Price is 49€ + shipping (usually €10 tracked).

New batch arrived, but already (almost) sold out.
Still a few left. Drop me a PM.
