I have begun testing the NexGen with Windows NT 3.51 here, https://www.vogons.org/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=65009
The complications with NT 3.51 are even worse than with Win95c. IE 5, Microsoft Office 97, and Adobe Photoshop 4 work though. Networking is an unresolved headache. |

| feipoa - does the Nexgen PCI motherboard have a battery? Can you take a photo and post here to show where is the battery located - or the connector for it - on your motherboard? |

I was finally able to get my IBM 10/100 ISA ethernet adapter working in NT 3.51. I don't really understand why it is working now, but this is what happened.
I was going to install a sound card, a Behavior Tech BTC 1853L (ESS1868F-based). I could not get this sound card working in either DOS or Win95c. Windows could not set any resources for the card, and it wasn't just that there were conflicts; Windows was unable to determine what resources to use and didn't have the option to set them. I also noticed that my IBM 10/100 network card would no longer work in Win95c when the BTC was installed. I tried setting PnP OS option in the BIOS, and this didn't help any. After a hour, I gave up on the BTC 1853L and removed an Audician 32 Plus from another system to install into the NexGen system. The Audician worked beautifully in Win95c and NT 3.51. And for whatever reason, the IBM 10/100 ethernet adapter started working in NT 3.51. I can now view my Windows network shared resources and I could load google.ca on IE5. Unfortunately, the vogons.org website crashed IE5. |
