Firefox overtook Microsoft's Internet Explorer (IE) to become the number one browser in Europe
in December 2010 according to StatCounter, the free website analytics company. The firm's research
arm StatCounter Global Stats reports that in December,

EUROPE (Dec. 2010):
1.) Firefox took (38.11%) of European market share, compared to
2.) IE's (37.52%).
3.) Google Chrome (14.58%) in third place is gaining market share in Europe and has grown from
5.06% from Dec. 2009.
4.) Safari (4.62%)
5.) Opera (4.57%)
6.) Other (0.60%)

"This is the first time that IE has been dethroned from the number one spot in a major territory,"
commented Aodhan Cullen, CEO, StatCounter. "This appears to be happening because Google's
Chrome is stealing share from Internet Explorer while Firefox is mainly maintaining its existing share."

North America (Dec. 2010):
1.) IE with (48.92%) still retains a clear lead in the browser market followed by
2.) Firefox (26.7%),
3.) Chrome (12.82%) and
4.) Safari (10.16%).
5.) Other (0.75%)
6.) Opera (0.65%)

Asia (Dec. 2010):
1.) IE (54.11%)
2.) Firefox (28.21%)
3.) Chrome (14.26%)
5.) Opera (1.51%)
4.) Safari (1.29%)
6.) Other (0.62%)

Antarctica (The South Pole ++ for Dec. 2010):
1.) Firefox (78.7%) !!!
2.) IE (11.45%)
3.) Chrome (5.25%)
4.) Opera (3.75%)
5.) Safari (0.49%)
6.) Other (0.35%)

Based on the Antarctica Stats, I suppose you can say from these figures that more educated people
tends to prefer Firefox.

It's a custom report, that tracks the number of accesses, exceeding certain threshold, for different user agents. Mobile browsers are not reported because the number of accesses from them does not exceed the threshold.
