Just an update. We continue to be in Portland (OHSU Hospital) with baby.
She is doing pretty good, Heart has some differences but nothing serious. Just working on her learning to eat enough to go home with us.
The root cause is likely a data copy error, one of her chromosomes' is missing ~12mb of data (about the size of a Windows 3.11 WFW install) in an area that is responsible for heart development and some other things. _________________ New for 2025! The CPU Shack has a co-processor!

Just read through this...
Genetic mutations and other abnormal issues are much more common with older parents. I always wished I had kids much sooner in life for this reason as well as overall energy level to deal with children.
Your time in hospital makes the 6 days in hospital for each of my 3 kids feel like a holiday. For each birth, I remember feeling very relieved to get away from therel. I cannot imagine what 7 or 8 weeks would feel like for you. After just a few days, I was getting horrifically antsy. This was before I had a computer phone. How are you coping with this physically and mentally?
Have you been in hospital this whole time, or do you have relatives, friends, or a motel that you can stay at? Sleeping in the hospital next to baby is difficult because the nurses or doctors come in every hour or two to wake you up. I remember feeling hung over all the time because of this.
Hope you get home soon. It will feel like a 5-star hotel when you do.

I will second what feipoa said. Having kids later is sometimes the only option, but creating something(s) with extra battery life when yours is lower can be difficult to manage.
John, I hope you, Jessica, and Hosanna are getting the rest you need during this challenging time. Best wishes to the three of you! |

yah a bit crazy, we're checking on the genetics, its most likely hereditary vs age related (my dad has similar) _________________ New for 2025! The CPU Shack has a co-processor!
