??

are you people insane or something?

i could walk up to that cd rack, scan the edges of the cases, find the one labelled 'intel 486 dx - SX668 SX729 SX810 SX829', pull it out, and show it to someone or scan it or do whatever i want with it. plus the whole thing takes up like 4 square feet of space in a room.

orrrrrrrrrrr

i could have a dozen blue trays stacked on top of eachother, and when i want that sx810, i have to lift three trays off the top and then scan through ~20 cpus to find the right one....

and if you store them like sammy does, they take up an entire room

no thanks, you crazy people can have your blue trays, ill keep my beautifully organized jewel cases.

ROTFLMAO, ok lets keep this at least civil guy.

The table full of CPU's DOES have a certain sex appeal, everything out in the open to see. Skolds looks very sharp though too, its more urban I think.

This is really a nice way to display chips

if yours were mounted on walls, theyd be all kinds of awesome.

presentation is one thing.. if you want to have them all out for the world to see, then cpushack's way is the best.. a lockable, but visible case..

if you just want to store them though like i do, cd cases are by far the best Razz

Looks like a good way to store them. I'll have to look at where I can get static free CD cases locally until I get some trays - then I can figure out which I find most practical Smile

Hey Skold,
How long have you been using CD cases? I put all my 386 and higher chips in them but keep them stored flat so they don't move around. I was just curious if you got the idea from me as I posted something on this about a year ago?

I think it looks good.

I like Sammyc's collection but he needs to work on the storage as those chips are subject to the humidity, dust and being knocked off onto the floor. It looks like a cold clammy basement. Poor chips icon_sadblinky

You wouldn't put your dog down there would you Sam? Laughing

I think Skolds would be better if he used big heatsinks or chunks of silicon to as bookends on his shelf Smile

thats not my shelf or my collection, right now all my chips are packed in a box...

i just happened to find a picture on google images that had cds that had been 're labelled' somehow so it looks pretty much exactly like what i was talking about

lee, im not sure if i got the idea from you or not, but i started using cd cases in early 2005, and was already doing it when you posted your 'best storage' thread:

... I have a 5000 sq ft factory unit... space is not an issue - and it looks fooking cool! And is sooo easy to organise.
