I have a dumb question, Duh
Do these mini DC-DC power supplies perform the same duties as the big metal box, power supplies that we see in desktop PCs? |

Half of it.
These are DC-DC, meaning you still need a powersupply to take wall power (110V AC) to 12V DC. (like a wall wart) _________________ New for 2025! The CPU Shack has a co-processor!

12v 4A power supplys are readily available, and anything to make an ITX PC smaller is worth the effort I have a 12v 8A laptop-type adaptor awaiting one of these power supplies. |

I will use it in a mini itx PC based on this new mobo
http://www.jwele.com/motherboard_detail.php?419
without any kind of fans and a self built case
yes, I know there is also the PicoPSU 120W but this other can handle 200W (with my Dell power brick DA-2 220W and 18A) so I'm pretty sure can power up the PC. |
