Do these mini DC-DC power supplies perform the same duties as the big metal box, power supplies that we see in desktop PCs?

12v 4A power supplys are readily available, and anything to make an ITX PC smaller is worth the effort I have a 12v 8A laptop-type adaptor awaiting one of these power supplies.

yes, I know there is also the PicoPSU 120W but this other can handle 200W (with my Dell power brick DA-2 220W and 18A) so I'm pretty sure can power up the PC.
