need help on cpu upgrade

hello all.
sys. specs...
windows xp home
dell xps-600
motherboard- nforce-4 sli-x16-intel 1 LGA775 socket (c19)
manufacturer- dell computer corporation
geforce 9800gtx+
2gb ram
650watt psu
i was onto dell technical support earlier on and asked them would my motherboard be able to use a pentium E2200 2.2ghz dual core processor and the technician said it would be compatable but then i was told by a person online that my motherboard would not be compatable with a e2200 dual core. this is doing my head in at this stage. why would dell say it will work and everyone else says it wont. thanks for any help on this problem. traynor
