Just wanted to put this on the internet someplace, took me 2 days to figure it out on my own.

Toshiba Satellite A105-S4074
T5500 Core 2 Duo Processor, 667MHz FSB
2x512MB PC4200 DDR2 (Came with laptop) 4-4-4-12 @277MHz
Intel 945GM Chipset

System would crash at times, randomly. Memtest was the first test run.

Memtest failed at a single address, multiple times, in multiple different runs.

SODIMMs singled out, and would both fail in the same slot, but not in the other slot. Memory was not bad.

Other DDR2 SODIMMs would also pass in one slot and fail in the other- Bad slot assumed.

Further troubleshooting found chipset to be very warm- Almost too hot to touch with slab-type heatsink (Copper, but no fins for heat dissipation).

Just to test, small desktop chipset heatsink placed on processor, with 5V fan. Chipset ran cooler, and Memtest errors stopped.

Just an FYI to those who find strange Memtest errors.

PS: Laptop is no longer going to live it's life as a laptop, with chipset northbridge now requiring a heatsink!
