I have a motherboard supporting an AMD 64 single core with
dual DDR memory rails, and a chooseable internal pci-e (16X)
(128 MB?) output or a plug-in pci-e (16X) video card. Small
performance note: It installs Fedora Core_8, 64- bit at
stupefying speed into a single HD as tested, then runs it
flawlessly as well; a possible great server. It installed and
ran a friend`s Windows XP Service Pack 2, 32- bit at a
terribly slow speed then ran it on it`s ATA- 133 HD next to
an ATA-100 HD on a separate cable which was full of videos
and other things I wanted to transfer. Here, it ran underwater-
ely slow and was so problemed, I practically couldn`t even
start the transfer job. Questions: What`s the practicalness of
using this computer in dual (or multiple) tasking in 32- bit
versus 64- bit operating systems? In video production, what
capture cards are available in pci-e (16X), what editing (pro
duction and burning if needed) software is needed, and
what operating systems will support this well? Are there any
advantages or disadvantages to using (dual indentical) Sata
HDs in Video editing? I`d rather use this computer for video
production than for a server. |
