I've got an HP Pavilion Slimline w/ a 5000+ CPU. It has a 180 or 200w power supply and I've got a half-height 8500GT video card in it. The video card seems to be working well - despite the fact that it is being seriously under-drive powerwise. (I'm also NOT gaming with it - at least currently).
Does anyone have a current benchmark for the 5050e? Being able to recover 20+ watts of power (that could then be used by the video card) while increasing CPU speed (by 20%?) for <$100 seems pretty appealing.
Thanks! |

5050e should perform exactly like the Athlon X2 5000+. The only advantage of the 5050e is lower power consumption.

I don't think that will end up being accurate (thus the question) - passmark (cpubenchmark.net) provides the following ratings for AMD processors with speeds in that area:
Dual Core 4800+ = 996
Dual Core 5000+ = 1,024
FX-60 = 1,044
Dual Core 5400+ = 1,098
Dual Core 4850e = 1,105
5600+ = 1,112 or 1,132
FX-61 = 1,173
6000 + 1,236
6400 + 1,278
Now, I realize (or at least I think) that these numbers may have been provided by users (thus there is no certainty regarding the settings), but my 5000+ was ballpark correct (1,034 I believe). From the chart it looks like the 4850e is actually comparable to the 5400+ speed wise, as opposed to the 4800+ ... |

Those benchmarks look fishy to me. If you move a mouse over 5000+ results their charts shows average CPU speed 2511 MHz. All variations of Athlon X2 5000+ are clocked at 2.6 GHz.
