hello
can anyone help me here?

i have a load of 30 pin simms which i am in the process of identifying for use in an atari ste (i don't have one at the mo so i can't just pop them in to see if they work) the number on the chips are - KM41C4000AJ-7 (4x1) and on some others - KM41C1000AJ-7 (1X1) and KM44C1000AJ-7 (1X4) i've found a site which helps identify - what i wanted to know is - does the "4x1" mean 4meg? and does 1x1 mean 1meg? what does 1x4 mean? is this 1meg or 4meg?? !! now i've confused you all! can anyone throw any light on this or at least tell me what meg these simms are - they all have 9 chips on them?

thanks

1x1 = 1MBit -> 1MBit / 8 = 256kByte/chip
4x1 = 4MBit -> 4Mbit / 8 = 512kByte/chip

the only interesting ones are:

4x4 = 16MBit -> 16MBit / 8 = 2Mbyte/chip

I hope that helpes. If you have some nice 8MB 30pin SIMM, I would like to buy some Smile

1x1 - 1Mbit device, 1M x 1 bit, 8 chips per 30-pin SIMM (1Mbyte SIMM)
1x4 - 4Mbit device, 1M x 4 bits, 2 chips per 30-pin SIMM (1Mbyte SIMM)
4x1 - 4Mbit device, 4M x 1 bit, 8 chips per 30-pin SIMM (4Mbyte SIMM)

Above configurations are for nonparity SIMM's.
