BIDDERS ON EBAY

I don't understand the point of bidding before 1 minute of the auctions end ( unless you have a 56k modem )
I must admit I do get frustrated when someone bids early, and I know that most of you do. This only jacks up the price and leaves the chances of getting a good deal slim to none.
I know some people bid with no intention to win, but for those who do and place their max bid with 6 days left, always get angered when they're outbid. They see "outbid", and quickly bid again thinking they're secure but don't realize a bidder war has been created. WHY DO YOU BID EARLY?????? You're actually making yourself spend more. It's the tactic which makes me hate ebay more and more everyday. Like I said I understand if people have a 56K modem, but not everybody has a 56k modem!
No offense to anyone here but I just feel like someone has to say something sooner or later. Lemme know what you think

Hello all,

I have the opposite opinion.

I always bid early (when I see them),
at my estimated price. Then, before
very close to the auction end, I bid my
max price, if the auction item is very
interested, or hard to get again.

Because:
(1)There are many cases that I can't bid on
very close to the auction ends. Most cases,
the auction ends are at midnight in Japan,
I can't bid. Yes, I know that there are bid
sniping software, I won't use them.

(2)For me, this is my declaration that " I
want to get this item especially." When the
seller close their auctions at early, I loose
the chance to get. (But it is rare cases.)

(3) I HATE the Snipers. Many many times,
I have aimed with his sniping software by
the same snipers for long time (over 4 month).
I don't want others not to get this very very
bad feelings.

Well, as chipcollector said that there are some
people who didn't have no intention to win, or pay.
And, the sniping method is no problem at the eBay.
But, also there is no problem to bid early.

I bid both ways but most of the time I wait until the last moment. The main reason for this it is easy for a person to do a search for bidder on Ebay, see what I am bidding on, and then out bid me at the last moment. It is one thing to get sniped but I don't want to lead anyone to the water hole. And then there is the fact that no one likes to get outbid and I have chased bids before and ended up paying way too much for some things.

On the other hand I have missed some nice chips because I wanted to wait until the last moment and then either got busy or something happened where I didn't get the bid in it time. That is more frustrating that getting outbid!

My question is how the heck some of you find stuff so quick. I see some of you bid on my stuff within the first minutes. This is amazing to me as I have my favorite searches and favorite sellers set up on my computer and I do normal Ebay scans but I never get a bid in that fast and I am sure I have missed some awesome "Buy it Nows"

The real important thing here is that you all get an equal shot at my latest Ebay listings I got a nice C4040 for someone

i also put a bid in early, i dont think it has so much to say for the ending price,if someone else will have it ther will be a biding war anyway.
and i have more controll on what i have found and want insted of just add it to my watchlist,the watchlist i use for stuff i want a litle but not are sure if i can afford everything.

snipping i dont like,but now its ther and have to live whit it.
but i see that collectors often starts a biding war on chips and that i think is werid,becouse this is guys who "now" the other guy and thats not so nice ageinst other collectors so i dont bid on items if i "now" who the highbidder is...thats also why i put a bid early,so i can hope that others who "now" me dont start a bidding war ageinst me.

Hum, and let's talk about some auctions that suddenly end...that's the thing I hate the most (and some guys on this forum do it, that's the worst).

About that, am i right if i say that an auction can't be ended if someone has already placed a bid?

I bid early because my broadband isnt, I have 80k of bandwidth.

I hate snipers. If ya want to snipe, make the auction 24hours long.

I have gotten some good deals by bidding early.

I don't mind early bidders as long as they don't start a bidding war. Sniping is a mere protection against those war bidders. Sniping is much more fair - you get only one chance to bid, so you have to think about your maximum bid. Besides, when sniping in many cases you don't see with whom you compete until the auction is over.

Lots of times I put in a bid as soon as I see a chip for about 1/2 what I think it's worth just in case no one sees it, or doesn't want it bad enough to see if I'm really trying to get it or just throwing a low ball.

Sometimes it works! I picked up a nice Microsystems International ML1101A (white gray traces, gold cap, and gold pins) the other week on EBAY for $1. The date code on this chip is 7127 which makes it the earliest dated RAM chip in my collection.

I put in a low ball bid and forgot about it and ended up winning it.

But why bid on chips I already have? What I'm doing is bidding on trading stock. For example, I'll always be able to trade a C4040 for something nice and if by luck I win one with a bid for 1/2 what I think it's worth, I'll buy it and sit on it until I can trade it.

Now, if I really, really want a chip. I'll usually low ball it day 1 and then come back right before the auction ends and bid my max bid.

I try to bid at the last time, but sometimes I forget to bid, or I'm not at home...

So sometimes I bid early to avoid forget bidding, but almost only on common items, with no bidders.

i usually bid near the end of the auction, but if i dont think ill be able to make it, i might bid a day before or so.

when i bid i just bid the max im willing to spend on something..

those are good points though about sellers ending an auction early. usually though if they do that its because its not available anymore
