I've just sorted through a batch of socket A chips, and have come across an Athlon 1400 with an odd stepping code. It's the first I have seen with 6 letters, and seems to be a known code with an "R" at the end of it.
Has anyone else come across this before? _________________ My graphics card database can be found at http://www.gpuzoo.com.

I knew that AYHJA is well known but had never come across AYHJAR. Good to know it's great for overclocking
Hmm, just checked google and see there are 1750 hits for it _________________ My graphics card database can be found at http://www.gpuzoo.com.

I saw this stepping before on Athlon 1333. It's not on CPU-World because one of my programs that builds the pages ignores all stepping codes that it thinks are incorrect, and, of course, it thinks that AYHJAR is not a correct code.

Yes, I have an Athlon 1000 with AYHJAR stepping. Its date code is 0137BPMW. Unfortunately, it seems damaged, as it will POST but not boot into Windows.
debs, unless I read your photo incorrectly, you have an Athlon 1400, not 1000. EDIT: I see your thread title says 1400; it's only the first post that mentions a 1000. So it's just a minor typo. |

I never used Athlon 1400. You say it have great overclocking potential. I don't believe How much it can be OCed ? _________________ Visit ABC CPU - Virtual CPU Museum. |

When I build a socket A system (hopefully soon, as I have the case and motherboard...) I will try to find out, if I can do so without burning the chip out (and if it is not already dead, of course). _________________ My graphics card database can be found at http://www.gpuzoo.com.

this link will give u an idea of their potential

i have run 133 FSB athlons in my data loggers on a 148 FSB for 24/7 for the past two years & they have never missed a beat, but I do think ur motherboard choice is important if u r wanting to overclock. Plus one chip mite b happily overclocked n the next has a dummy spit lol _________________ There are 10 types of people in this world:

These Athlons are very overclockable and can endure very high temperatures without any harm.
Three months ago I repaired a computer with such a CPU. The cooler broke down and the CPU was uncooled. But It worked fine under this conditions.
I burned my fingers very bad when I touched the heatspreader - despite of the fact that the PC was turned off 5 minutes ago.
According to my injuries I think that the temperature of cooler was at least 80°C. Ouch! |
