Got an Athlon AHM1200AJS3B today. Now, I want to test it.
I´m not sure but i think these mobile chips use a different VID than the desktop CPUs!? So you can fry it by setting voltages according to desktop CPUs!?

the mobile palominos run on a V core of 1.35, while the desktop version runs on 1.75 volts.
The other thing to consider is the mobile has a 200MHz bus speed, while the destop runs on a 266MHz.

specs on ur processor here

I don't think you will fry the CPU. Technically the mobile CPU's which fit in S462 are the same as their desktop-brothers. Voltages and busspeeds can differ.

For most boards the busspeed is no issue. Voltages is a different story as not every motherboard supports low voltages. Nevertheless the board will probably run the CPU at the lowest vCore available. If this is not the case, and the board will give 2.2V for some weird reason you will not fry the CPU. The old AMD Athlon's (especially 180nm, but 130nm too) won't die from such a voltage Smile. They are very solid/strong when it comes to this Wink.

If it was my CPU I would just give it a go in a board like ECS K7S6A as they support quite low voltages. But, I don't think boards like EPoX 8RDA (with lowest vCore at 1,4V) will be a problem either.

At last but not least consider that the board might not have the correct BIOS for the CPU. Your mobile CPU wuses the Palomino core so if your BIOS/motherboard support the AMD Athlon XP it will probably work. The motherboard might identify your CPU incorrectly, though. This will probably result in something like 'Unknown AMD Athlon(tm)' during the P.O.S.T. or your CPU will be recognized as an Athlon(tm) 1200 (instead of Athlon 4) or as an AMD Athlon(tm) XP Smile.

Thanks for the answers. I mixed something in my mind.
There is only a problem, if you use automatic voltage detection.
