| I have an Athlon XP 3000 which does not support sse2. Any suggestions as what I can upgrade to that will support sse2? |

SSE2 in AMD chips was implemented first in Athlon 64,
for Intel chips in Pentium 4,
so you need to change a platform for it. |

| My board takes a socket A and I think that Athlon 64 is a socket AM2 - not compatible??? |

Not compatible.
Change platform means change motherboard. |
