I havenˇ¦t come to this forum for a while as I am semi-retired now (mostly due to the fact that there are not many targets for me to go after). I am pretty surprised that some collectors also retired while I was away (e.g. Debs). Anyway, I am curious if the owner of the website: http://www.cpu-galaxy.at/ visits this forum or not.

I am very surprised that the content of this website copied my text, word by word, without even paraphrasing or mentioning of my site. There are tons of examples:
http://www.cpu-galaxy.at/CPU/Intel%20CPU/3002-8008/Intel%203002%20section.htm (mine: http://www.mynikko.com/CPU/3002.html)
http://www.cpu-galaxy.at/CPU/Intel%20CPU/3002-8008/Intel%204040%20section.htm (mine: http://www.mynikko.com/CPU/4040.html)
http://www.cpu-galaxy.at/CPU/Intel%20CPU/3002-8008/Intel%208008%20Section.htm (mine: http://www.mynikko.com/CPU/8008.html)

I am not going to list them all, but basically, the owner just copied and pasted them from my website, and I found no where my site is mentioned or linked.

Should I feel honored that my English writing skill is approved by a fellow CPU collector? It is actually my first time to spot an English website stealing my content, because my site does not even rank top 100 among other English CPU websites. So it makes me very curious why the owner actually chose to copy my site since Wikipedia (English) has more complete information than my site. My assumption would be that the owner thought it is less-likely to be caught if the content is copied from a less popular source, especially a non-English one. There are many famous CPU sites linked in his website, but mine is deliberately omitted. Why would I use the word: deliberately? I know my site is neither famous nor popular among English sites, but with this kind of extensive copying, I am sure the owner of the website is very aware the existence of my site, yet, he chose not to mention it.

I found his legal disclaimer to be very interesting: If you prefer taking me to court without prior communication instead please note that I am not willing to keep silent, but report this matter to a broad audience. Remember that this will probably severely harm your reputation. I guess I cannot and will not take any legal action against him but only report this matter to a broader audience, so I can keep my reputation unharmed.

There are tons of Chinese tech websites copying my Chinese content and I am getting used to it; that is because there are not many CPU related info in Chinese and many editors just got lazy. My CPU-related information ranks very high in Chinese search results, often higher than Chinese Wikipedia. Before, I always put a copy of my articles onto Chinese Wikipedia, but later the moderators removed most of them claiming that I copied those content from my own website. I argued that I am the owner of the source but moderators told me that I have to paraphrase my own articles before I can paste them onto Wikipedia. That is just plain stupid, so I simply stop contributing to Chinese portion of Wikipedia; those moderators are just jerks.

Anyway, I am really tire, both mentally and physically. CPU collecting is hardly fun for me now. One of the reasons why I do not appear here is often is because I do not want to argue or fight with anyone. I registered on this forum fairly early (I think I am the 22nd), but later I found, due to conflict of interests, it is very hard avoid arguments; bragging, sarcasm, trade disputes and careless comments often sparks tension between members. I remember I had a dispute with a fellow member regarding lost packages about two years ago. That is the time I really got hurt and decided to semi-retire. I think keeping my mouth shut is the best way to avoid arguments.

Recently, my life is not going very well. I worked and tried very hard. I had no vacation and worked 7 days a week. Everyday, itˇ¦s just me and my source code. I am trying to pursue my dream, but it is just not going well at all. Of course, everyone knows that hard work does not necessarily mean success. I do not give myself excuses; I just keep try to learn from the failures and try harder next time, but the repeating failures after hard work are just heartbreaking and tiresome. It really wears me down to a point that I would start wondering what the meaning of my existence is in this world.

Anyway, Happy New Year to Everyone!!

wtf

Nikko, if you dont want your stuff "used" then dont put it online in a public domain. Keep it all for yourself with your things you dont want people to see.

To everyone else: Good manners is to, at least quote/reference and link the source of the site you are copying.

I say, copy as much as you want, just link and quote as appropriate, or dont if you dont feel like it.

Why??

SIMPLE... so many sites GO DOWN as the original authors disappear/die/whatever. So why loose the information - which was probably copied from SOMEWHERE ELSE in the first place.

That is my 1 Euro. Happy New Year, and I already broke a resolution in this reply. ffs.

Check out http://creativecommons.org/

This is a good way to protect your hard work but specify how you will allow others to use it.

hehe, I would be honoured if I ever saw parts of my site copied elsewhere. It's a sign that your hard work is worth something to someone.

I always have a copyright with any programming code I release, stating it can be used for any legal purpose as long as my name and the copyright remain intact as part of the final application. I might just do that for my website as well, it does save all the potential grief if you know that something is available freely in the public domain and all you have to do in order to share info is name the source Smile

They are recycled characters from a another public domain.
But, credit should be given to the originator out of respect.

Looking at the website.... Where are the all love-stories, crime-stories and poems from this site are not allowed to copy!! strictly copyright!!!!!!!

I cannot find them Very Happy
