Hi,
I am looking for advice on not so much as an upgrade but a 'design tweak' on a budget. Currently I have and AMD Athlon 64 Benice 2.2 GHz processor socket 754. The TDP is 59W.
I am looking to go fanless on the cpu heatsink and wondered if it is possible to put a socket 754 mobile chip like the Turion 64 MT-40 on my motherboard. The chip is only has a TDP of 25W.
I have the latest BIOS but I wondered what the rev. E5 means for the Turion core revision and is it compatible. My current chip is rev E6.
Also how does performance (very roughly) generally compare between Athlon 64 and Turion 64 at the same clock speeds.
Any input appreciated.
Thanks |

| 99/100 motherboards dont accept Turion. Do a quick search on these forums for a link I posted a while ago about motherboards which DO support Turion. |

| Great article! I think I will give it a try as my board is running a processor with E stepping which it says is required for the Turion. There may be problems with the cpu frequency but I guess that's part of the fun. |
