"k7s5a pro" processors

I have an "athlon xp 1500+" processor will i have to flash my bios to upgrade to the "athlon xp 2400+" processor or is it just a processor swap

again the motherboard is a k7s5a pro

My Motherboard is Elitegroup K7S5A and i'm currently using Athlon 1.10, can I upgrade it to Athlon XP's?

since K7S5A supports 200 or 266mhz FSB, so the best processor can be used is ATHLON XP 2800+ or below. Beware there are also XP 2500+, 2600+, 2700+ and 2800+ with FSB 333mhz, so make sure you get the CPU with FSB266mhz, or it won't work.

It depends on your BIOS version if you have to flash it with the newer version. Often, when you put the unsupported CPU, the bios shows a 'UnknownAMD' message during the POST procedures.
