CPU ID is: AXDA3700DKV4E
Z3146683 20287

Stepping is: AQXEA
Production: 03 35 XPMW

I recently sold this CPU on EBAY as a genuine 3200+ Barton 400FSB, as it had been in storage for several years after being taken out of my old Socket A motherboard. I had bought it as an upgrade cpu and I am sure it was working correctly at 2.2GHz at 400 FSB.

However, the person that bought it said that he could only get it to work at 1.8GHz and he had tried another 3200+ cpu and that worked ok.

As i no longer have a Socket A mobo to test it on, i just wondered if any one can confirm from the photo if it is a genuine CPU or if my "buyer" was correct and its a fake?

I normally have a good memory for these things, but i carnt remember back 6 yrs ago.. if i got it to work at 2.2Ghz ! Doh!!
Many thanks in advance. [/b]

Markings look good to me. One of L12 bridges is cut which looks very suspicious to me. All 3200+ processors I've seen so far have L2 bridges intact. You have the first bridge cut, so my guess your CPU is a remarked Athlon XP 2500+ with 333 MHz FSB.

One more thing - if you the CPU in your possession then try to wipe off fake markings with acetone.

Hi,
many thanks for your comments - advice.
When you say wipe of the possible fake markings, what are you referring to, do you mean the black CPUID label at the bottom of the chip?
If one of the L12 bridges has been cut... can it be repaired?

I have heard of people using graphite pens etc as a hack...?

I am pretty certain i bought this as a genuine 3200, some 6 years ago

It's no longer any use to me as i have upgraded my PC years ago... but i know they are selling at £55+ on Ebay for genuine 2nd hand ones

Yes, the label.

The only way to repair it is to make it an Athlon XP 2500+ or whatever it was before it was remarked as 3200+.
