I really need that link to the c4004 Grey that sold for $711. Does anyone have that link or item#? Im in the process of buying one, and I need it to make up my mind. Or perhaps the buyer is in these forums???
I'm paying $500 for a C4004 Grey socketed on a board with a c4001 socketed ( and a bunch of other black chips ). Does this sound like a good deal??? Both chips are in flawless condition.
Thanks |

A choice like new condition C4004 w/gray traces sold for 1185.00 on EBAY a few years ago so I would say it's a good deal.
FYI, I was the 2nd highest bidder in that auction for the C4004 w/gray traces that sold for 711.00. The seller would not send me a better pic
and I was not willing to bid more without a better photo.
If the seller would have sent a clear photo and if the chip had been in like new condition without any scratches or scuffs whatsoever and a boldly printed well centered part number then I would have bid $1000.00+ on it.
If the chip you get meets that criteria, I'll pay you $1000.00+ for it if you want to sell it.
I have a nice C4004 w/gray traces that's but I've seen ones where the part number is a little more boldly printed.
I'm looking to obtain the nicest possible example of this chip for my collection. |

If it's nicer than mine, I would also be willing to trade you mine + some cash for it. That way you'll still have a C4004 w/gray traces in like new condition and some extra $$$
Thanks,

I gave the guy a call and he happened to be at his place so... I GOT IT
It's the whole board with 4 P4001 chips, a c4001, and a p4002-1 with a bunch of other things on it. But all the intel chips a socketed everything else is soldered, yay!
I'm charging my camera batteries, will post a picture in half an hour or so.
GMphillips, do you have a picture of your C4004 Grey with traces? I'd like to see it's condition, be back soon |

Here we are fellas! The pictures have arrived
I'm going to start with the mothership ( Please give some time to load for all pictures) As you can see, there are 4 p4001's, a p4002-1, and a c4001.
Going in on a close up to the mother itself
( Bear with me, there is some dust on the chip and im looking for the correct tool to prevent ANY kind of damage at all, or maybe I'll keep it that way?? )
Date code 7504 made in Malaysia
Last but not least, a c4001 with no date code or place of manufacture

Nice chip but there's a faint scratch running from the bottom of the Intel 'i' to the edge of the cap, looks like some very light pitting on the gold on the cap, the part number is not as bold as they come (compare boldness of part number to the C4001 on the same board) and the gray traces are a little on the light side.
That said, it's still extremely nice chip, probably an 8 ot 8.5 on a scale of 1 to 10. It's not really a $1000 chip but it's probably worth $800.00.
Can you send me a close-up photo of the cap?
If I had to pull it, here's what I would do. Buy a 99 cent bic pen and take the cap off. Slip the clip on the plastic cap under one edge and work it under the chip until it starts to come up on one side, then switch to the other, keep working it up switching from one end to the other until you work it out. I actually use a "cuticle stick" that women use to do their nails with but the clip on the cap of a bic pen will also work. If it's tight, you might need to shave the end of the clip down a little with a knife. |

actually it comes of very easily. I can pull it out with my fingers with little force (That's how I got the datecode ). If you have aim, ICQ, or msn messenger, let me know so I can send it through there.
The scratch is invisible to the naked eye; camera just caught it with the flash somehow. But it's obviously still there The cap is very clean, what you see in the picture ( little white dots and black things ) have been removed with a light wipe of a cloth.
When you say $800 chip, would you pay $800 for it? Just a thought |

SORRY!! Made a mistake on the date code, I corrected it in bold. (7508, not 7548)
P.S Just because your jealous it doesn't mean you don't have to post anything ( Hint, GSHV, hint ) |
