Hi,

I have no interest for AMD Cpu, but because I noticed somes errors on distributors listings ( Asia and/or USA ), I Think I can put this info to help other collectors.

Few distributors have mentioned between 100 and 390 Am8085ADCB.
Before to complete the command form or to email them, we can think they have this one on stock :

But in fact they have only some pieces of this one :

Somes distributors are serious and precise the /C8085AB add or the copyright date, but not all !
I hope this topic will help AMD collectors to be not fooled, because only one is rareful.

Because I'm not especialised on AMD cpu identification, I ask an Telecom Employee this morning about these two differents kind of CPU.
He just explained to me there were less Cpu with Gold Top than the other version. They have destroyed recently many of these vintage boards (installed here between 1981 and 1983 ) with Am8085ADCB CPU only. Unfortunatly, this technician is just abble to test the boards and to replace them eventually. He has no more info.

I found the AMD 81 copyrighted inserted on exactly the same type of board that the Intel 77 copyrighted. They look to be both Am8085ADCB C-Types, because they can be interverted on a same board, but I not sure and I'm not able to have more info.

But in all cases, because I was suprising me too of the same identification printed on two different cpus, I had opportunities to verify there is still a confusion beetwen these two cpus.

Two exemple :
On globeIC you can find 200 am8085ADCB on stock. If you ask info about them, you'll verify that they are not the Intel copyrighted version.
On NetComponents, at the first look, correct identification is impossible :

Well, if someone want to complete my investigation. Wink

"C" package (AM8085ACC) is a brown ceramic DIP.
"D" package (AM8085ADC and AM8085A2DC) can be brown ceramic/no lid or purple ceramic/gold lid DIPs. Even if these processors have Intel part number (C8085A or D8085A) after AMD part number, it doesn't tell correctly what package you're going to get.

Those with purple ceramic have gold lid. I will correct my original post.
