Unfinished fake?

Its a pretty early chip. Oldest known Pentium Pro are from week 41 1995 and this around 10 weeks younger.

On the other hand, why remove the logo print?

oh.. many reasons... recall a certain member of this forum who removed the logo from a ceramic gold top ES pentium with wire wool. Genius.

Not only the logo is missing, but laser markings on top as well. They are harder to remove...
I think it is just an empty package.

Very interesting!! I think this is a special PPro sample.

100% of the blank Pentium Pro's I have seen have a engraved number in the bottom right hand side of the ceramic that starts with a E. There was one from Europe that started with a different letter than E but still had the markings in the bottom right hand corner

Also all of the very early Pentiums Pro's samples with markings have the same engraving in the bottom right hand side. Here are examples of both.

The blank below is supposed to be one of the first 50 Pentiums Pro's ever made and the Q0755 is the first documented Pentium Pro Qspec.

Do you have a link to the documentation for Q0755?

The production date of the blank (Week 43 1995) is the eariest I have seen so far Very Happy

From the Pentium Pro time line i presume they are early 166 or faster Pro samples, as they were produced after production 150s were released.

I have been wondering.. if they were thermal samples.. why would they have a die date code Confused

EDIT >> checking production codes on the base of Pros.. my belief that it is an unmarked 200MHz 256k ES.. so should be fully functional Very Happy

The additional code etched into the top of "Samples" & early ES comes in 2 formats... Exxx-xxxx or 1xxx-xxxx

The codes starting with E only seem to appear on 256k Pros
while the codes starting with 1 appear only on 512k Pros

These codes are likely put on initially.. with the part number & qSpec put on later as n when they are required Shocked

so ur blank most likely would of ended up being a 256k Q0861
and Jacs blank a 512k Q0865
