Hi,
I have a Core 2 Duo CPU with a speed of 2.83GHz. A week ago, I decided to over clock it to 3.0GHz. Until then I noticed that the CPU fan speed was increasing. This was obviously due to the CPU temperature increasing. I noticed the temperature with CPUID HW Monitor. The CPU temp was OK, around 35C but the cores were soaking to death with more than 50C and sometimes reaching 70C and even 85C once. With the second core always heating up more quickly. The problem is that before over clocking temp was quite good 35C ~ but after over clock heat began to show up. I asked the computer manufacture and he suggested me to buy another heat sink (what do you expect). I bought one and installed it but no much luck. I bought an Akasa Nero AK-967. Previously I had an Asus V-60 (that was functioning well). I applied new thermal paste also. Can you please explain me why it is heating up? What can I do? Why does the cores heat up very much than the overall cpu temp? Without overclock temp of overall CPU is 22C when turned on and cores 32C also when turned on.
Thanks |

first rule:
dont trust mobo cpu temp 100%....its relative and most times use inaccurate measures
the most real temps are this provided direct from cpu cores id system...
via core temp ect programs....
are u over volt the cpu to over clock it?
if yes is absolutely reasonable this temps...
also u take high temps on idle or when strees the cpu?
if the 50-70 is under strees + over clock its ok to me with air cooling...
if this temps are with idle something happen...
also try to touch the cpu cooler when u get this high temps....if the cooler is general cold may ur cpu gives wrong temps to core temp...
if the cooler is hot this temp really produced by the cpu....
also with my experience the 8300-8400 heat more easy on overclock....
so generaly....do overclock wise and only if u know what u do....(and if u nreally need it)
also please tell me the mobo manuf/model ?
thnx |
