Hi!
I have a Intel quad core Q9400 @2,66GHz, FSB=333, multiplier=8
Can anyone tell me why some benchmarks I've installed (CPUID, SiSoft Sandra)show me that FSB is 267MHz?
I know that this cpu has SpeedStep facility, therefore the frequence varies between 1600(multiplier= 6 ) and 2133MHz(multiplier= 8 ), but this aply also to the FSB??

I put here the link to my CPUID result:
http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=591787

Also I have 2*2GB DDRAM3@1333MHz, but benchmarks show that they are at a very lower frequency.

In the BIOS of the motherboard(Intel DP45SG) the CPU runs at 2,66GHz, 8*333MHz, and the memories at 1333Mhz@ 9-9-9-24.

Have anyone an idea?

Please help
Thanks

Those speeds look good to me, you have to use the formula of 4 x 333 = 1332 which is what youre memory is rated at. But the timings look high to me , but I am not sure without knowing exactly what brand and model the ram sticks are. The rest of the issues are speed step for sure as Kosmo ha said

Speedstep doesnt alter the FSB, to my recollection...

Make sure your jumpers (some still have them!) and BIOS are set to 1333FSB.... Your FSB and Memory are running at 266MHz!!

Also, beware: Some boards dont run memory at full speed when in quad-DIMM configuration, but 1333MHz should be OK.

Thanks for the replies!

In BIOS all are set to maximum: 1333(mobo&cpu fsb, memory freq), cpu@2,66ghz at 8*333, memory timings 9-9-9-24...

Memories are Kingston DDR3 PC3-10700(2*2GB DIMM DDR3-1334 9-9-9-24 4-33-10-5) dual ch

BUT, SisoftSandra tells me that:
-Motherboard FSB: 4*267=1ghz(should be 1333mhz)
-memory bus speed: 2*534mhz(1ghz)-also should be 1333mhz
-memory timings: 6-9-9-24 4-33-13-8 2T

AND

CPU-Z said: CPU rated fsb: 1066mhz-should be 1333.

Motherboard is Intel DP45SG, and there are'nt jumpers for settings any freq.

Thanks

Try upgrading the BIOS, and resetting the CMOS. Make sure to manually set your timings and speeds to whats rated (set the BIOS SETUP jumper to get into BIOS and do this- Otherwise you wont get the options, I think).

Problem solved!!
Thanks a lot!

Now benchmarks show that all frequencies and fsb are at maximum - 1333MHz.

http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=592251

I cleared the CMOS memory of BIOS (by jumpers on mobo) and chose the optimal default settings.
I don't know why fsb was so low, even that in BIOS all were set to maximum. I didn't upgraded the BIOS, just reseted it!

Thanks a lot for answering!

Good luck in everything

You're right. SpeedStep alters the multiplier, depending on load.
