Thoroughbred core.

Since it is relabeled as DHD500DLV1B, maybe this is a Mobile Athlon XP-M which boots at 500 MHz in desktop motherboard.

DHD Processor architecture: High performance desktop processor (models 7 and Cool
500 Frequency (MHz): 500 MHz
D Package type: 453-pin organic PGA (socket A/socket 462)
L Voltage: 1.5V
V Maximum operating temperature: 85°C
1 L2 cache: 64 KB
B Bus frequency: 200 MHz (effective), 100 MHz (actual)

that package number was used late 2002 to late 2004...

and the stepping KQYHA is a model 10 stepping (Thorton/Barton), the datecode would be the latest known for that stepping.

It also is missing the copyright and mask symbols

L3 closed-closed-open-closed-closed gives 5x multiplier.
L5[1] closed.
So it must boots at 500 MHz and can change multiplier on the fly as mobile version.

Yes, it is a fake because it is relabeled.
Why it is not a Duron:
1. AMD did not sell a Duron 500.
2. Your chip has organic package. The size and orientation of the core is Thoroughbred. There were 3 Applebred core Duron (= Thoroughbred with some disabled L2, so only 64KB L2 working) with organic package, but speeds were 1400, 1600, and 1800. Not 500.

The only Thoroughbred designed to operate at slow 500 MHz were Mobile Athlon XP-M. These start at minimum multiplier 5x (500 MHz core), and use PowerNow! to step increase multiplier to maximum value - for example, 14x (1400 MHz core). Most socket A desktop motherboards do not support PowerNow!, and cannot change the multiplier. In such desktop motherboard, this chip will have locked 5x multiplier, and run at 500MHz.

My speculation: someone got this chip, but did not realize it is a mobile XP-M. He ran it in a desktop motherboard, instead of a mobile motherboard for notebook. When it ran at 500 MHz, he decided that it is broken, and relabeled the chip DHD500...

I have asked a right question from the right expert. thanks for very detailed answer Smile
